A Day In The Life: Lucas Dominic, CEO SecurionPay

Lucas Dominic

Name: Lucas Dominic
Company: SecurionPay
Role: CEO

Which app or program do you check first thing in the morning?
Gmail, to make sure everything is fine and taken care of. Skype is the second one, then news feeds next.
What does your typical day look like?

I am an early bird, so 6.50am is when the day starts with some stretching to boost the energy level. Then shower, breakfast and coffee. At 7.30am office work starts until 1pm, then brunch/lunch for about 30 minutes.

Then it is meetings, emails and office work till 5pm, then at 5.30pm I crossfit box – I am fortunate enough to have it nearby the office.

By 6.30pm I am back home. A quick light snack then back in front of the screen from home as our North American partners are already fully active. From 9.30-10pm I plan for the next day, and at 11-12am it’s time to go to bed.

Which apps can’t you live without?

I try not to be distracted by too many gizmos out there ;-). Skype and Whatapp as business communication tools. Being in touch with your partners and clients is the most important thing for me.

TrailMixPro is a cool thing. The app is a music player, but with a very special feature, one that especially appeals to me: it syncs the tempo of the song playing to how fast your stride is. It’s great for doing performance sports.

What is your professional inspiration?
To be a better person than the day before, both personally and professionally. Constantly pushing here and there can work miracles when added together in pursuit of your dreams.
What is your favourite film?
Keanu Reeves movies.
What TV show/s are you currently watching?
Suits, Mr. Robot, The Blacklist and Fast N’ Loud.
What is the last great thing you read? (book/article)
To get a break from all business-related literature and news I reach out for Lee Child’s books from the Jack Reacher series. I have all of them, and have nine left to complete them all.
What are you listening to at the moment? (Music/podcasts)
At the moment I am listening to my wife complaining that I work too long. In the background, some radio station from Vancouver with a top ten hits playlist.
Favourite YouTube video?

Jeff Dunham’s videos can always put you in a great mood no matter how tough the day was!

Where do you go for your news?
BusinessInsider & LinkedIn Pulse.
Outside of dating, which brand do you admire most?
TAG Heuer (for racing heritage), Red Bull/GoPro (for brilliant marketing) and John Varvatos (as we need more of everything labeled vintage these days).
Who should we follow on Twitter?
SecurionPay. For great mixture of news and advice on ecommerce, dating, online payments and sometimes for things that will just make your day much more pleasant.
Do you have any productivity tips?
Do a minimum of one thing daily that pushes you closer to your desired goal. These small steps have a powerful outcome if you combine them together over a period of time.
Best advice you have received or favourite quote.

Advice: Stay humble. It’s important to wake up in the morning and feel good looking at yourself in the mirror. Don’t let arrogance and ignorance fool you into think “you have just arrived”. Nowadays, people seem to constantly forget about it.

Quote: “Every human has two lives. The second one begins when you understand that there is only one life”. Good for overall reflection.
