Tinder Introduces ‘Tinder U’ in India for College Students
Tinder has launched Tinder U, a new in-app feature designed specifically for university and college students in India. The feature aims to help students connect with peers on their campus, making it easier to form meaningful relationships in a familiar environment.
According to Tinder, “Tinder U is built exclusively for university and college students. By opting in with your valid college email address (.edu.in, .ac.in, or .in in India), you’ll unlock a fresh, personal, and authentic space where you can connect with other students.”
Once verified, users can update their profiles with college details, interests, and campus activities, allowing for more personalized matches. The initiative reflects growing trends in online dating among young adults, with a OnePoll survey showing that 57% of Indians aged 18-25 have formed meaningful relationships through dating apps.
Tinder U is designed to create a safer and more inclusive space for young users. By focusing on student interactions, the feature ensures that connections feel more organic – similar to meeting someone in a classroom, library, or campus event. The feature is available to students who verify their college email address within the app.
Aditi Shorewal, Communications Lead for Tinder in India, stated that: “University life is all about new experiences, and with Tinder U as your trusty sidekick – whether you’re looking for a study buddy, concert partner, or something a little more special—you can truly thrive.” The launch of Tinder U in India marks another step in the platform’s effort to cater to Gen Z users looking for connections in familiar settings.
