Could Your International Domains Be Competing Against Each Other?

Could companies with different international domains be competing against each other in search results?

That’s what an article by Graham Charlton from Econsultancy asks, looking at three big companies (888.com, hotelscombined.com and Expedia.com) and how their domains are competing against one another.

Charlton also looks at how to check whether your sites could be doing the same, and how to solve the problem.

As he says, this issue can occur when you have duplicate content and theming across separate TLDs owned by the same company.

However companies can solve this by coordinating the various web teams dealing with the domains, and using a local country subfolder approach.
