Mysinglefriend.com have found that 5.18pm on Boxing Day is the busiest time of the year for traffic on the site.

They found a 250% increase in traffic last year on Boxing Day, and are expecting around a 300% increase this year.

Sarah Beeny, founder of mysinglefriend.com, said: “By Boxing Day, everyone is a little sick of catching up with relatives and answering probing questions about their love life. 

“People have more free time on their hands, and are reflecting about the past year and making plans for the new year, so what better time to sit down with friends and set up a dating profile.

Many sites find that the week between Christmas and New Year is the busiest, along with Valentines Day.

Match saw an 11% increase following Christmas Day.

In January, an estimated 3.2million people will go online in search of a date.
