HowAboutWe.com, the “first offline dating site”, has launched an international app.
The app is available in 15 languages and covers 30 countries, including Japan, France and Russia.
According to head of PR Jade Clark, although HowAboutWe already have international users, it was only available in English, which limited the site’s growth.
And with this launch, all features that paying US premium users have will be free to international users.
Speaking to TechCrunch, Clark said this is because HowAboutWe aim to “extend our reach as a brand and to hit critical mass in one of these new markets,” and then look at monetisation options.
The app includes many new features such as SpeedDate and the ability to search for dates over 12 categories, such as education level or political belief.
HowAboutWe aim to bridge the gap between virtual and real dating by letting their users propose date ideas based on location.
Their service is open to both singles and couples.
The singles product has 1.7m users in the US, while the couples service has half a million users in four markets.
The new international app is currently only focused on singles, but this is expected to change in the future.
