‘Facebook Meets Dating’ with German Gay App

A new gay app from Germany which mixes dating and social networking has launched in the UK.

“ “Facebook meets dating” is probably the best way to describe nearox,” says founder Heiko Fuchs.

“Users are able to post content just like they would on Facebook, but on nearox, all nearby users — not just friends — can see those posts. 

“This way, nearox makes finding new mates easier than ever before.”

The app was launched yesterday in the UK with parties at various gay venues in London, Brighton and Manchester.

It is made by Hamburg-based company, Nearox Media GmbH, who launched the app in 2012 in German-speaking countries.

Fuchs says the app enables users to meet more people than Facebook, since posts are viewed by all nearby users and not just friends.

The app contains many features such as verified profiles, free push notifications, last online timestamp, profile notes, visitor’s list, user filter search, events and user ranking results.

The subscription version, nearox prime, offers features like DeleteMe, a SnapChat-style function that deletes sent photos once they’re viewed by the recipient, and StealthMe, which enables anonymous search.
