French dating app Happn has just reached the milestone of 10m users around the world.

The hyperlocal singles app, which launched back in February 2014, is now live in over 25 cities around the world, and is on target to hit 30m users by the end of this year.

And with this news, Happn has launched a new update – a voice-based audio clip feature.

Speaking about the milestone, and this new feature, the CEO and co-founder of Happn, Didier Rappaport said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to the millions of dedicated Happn members around the world who have helped us reach this point. To kick off the New Year and celebrate this milestone, we’re giving our users a new feature to build more meaningful relationships within the app by using voice.”

This new feature will let users send one minute long personal audio clips to their connections in the app.

The company also revealed it has been adding 1.5m users every month, and has seen a 66% increase in users over the last quarter alone, as it pushes into new markets.

The app – which has scooped over $22m in funding – is now live in cities such as Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Hong Kong, Milan and New York City.

The French company plans further expansion in 2016 into the US, Europe, Asia and South America, having launched in Canada last December.

Rappaport said: “When we launched Happn in 2014, we aimed to fill a void in the online dating scene by offering a way for people to connect with those they’ve crossed paths with in real-life — and really, a way to put the spontaneity back into dating.

“Surpassing 10 million users in under two years is an important milestone for us, and this new voice feature is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our dedicated Happn community.”

Last year Happn raised $14m in Series B funding in a round led by Idinvest, taking their total funding to $22m.

Throughout 2016, Happn said it plans to keep adding new product updates to the app to help its growth in markets like the US, such as the Instagram and Spotify partnerships they released last year.
