Erin and Sara Foster, Creative Heads of Bumble BFF and Bumble Biz, have invested in drinks company Bev, to help launch the ‘Made by Chicks’ media platform.
The sisters will work with Bev founder and CEO, Alix Peabody, to create the platform and an accompanying podcast. It aims to encourage entrepreneurial activity among women and challenge the male-dominated beverage industry.
Topics of discussion will range from “asking for a raise” to “pregnancy as part of life and career”.
Sara Foster said in a statement: “We’re partnering with Bev because we’re comfortable buying the product ourselves and telling our friends to buy it. Bev’s female-oriented mission and movement align with our personal interests.”
The beverage industry is expected to reach approximately $1.9 trillion by 2021. Yet, Peabody said that the market has so far failed to identify with women despite them buying on average between 65-70% of all alcoholic drinks in the home.
“Legacy brands tend to sexualise alcohol consumption, and objectify women on the TV, billboards, and in print. That’s what we’re changing,” she added.
“We want women to know that drinking can be fun, inclusive and safe. Women can be their authentic selves when they drink a Bev.”
Peabody, Erin and Sara will work alongside notable names Rich Paul, Keith Sheldon and Chief Zaruk to create the platform, which is scheduled for release in March 2020.
The Foster sisters joined the Bumble team in 2017 after an acting and TV production career.
