Cosmic: Personality-Focused and Free Dating App
Cosmic is a new dating app that is looking to disrupt the industry with innovative approaches to profile-building. The platform helps users to create their profiles by having them complete a personality quiz, with machine learning doing the rest.
Cosmic is the first platform to released by the developer Friendly Apps. Friendly Apps raised $3 million in seed funding, and was founded by Michael Sayman, who previously worked at Facebook, Google and Twitter.
Friendly Apps is looking to create a number of platforms that are focused on healthy usage and non-toxicity. Cosmic is looking to achieve this goal by helping singles find what they’re looking for, with the help of its innovative features.
On Cosmic, users complete a personality quiz about their interests, hobbies, priorities, etc in a private mode. From there, the platform will generate a personalised profile for users with the help of machine learning.
Sayman told TechCrunch that he was inspired to create this feature as users often struggle to describe themselves and “I don’t see a lot of us, including myself, sharing a whole lot of our personality — or the way that we are — on the app. We put a bunch of pictures up and a public bio and that’s kind of it”
“The cool part about it is it actually tells you a lot more about somebody than I think a lot of us are able to write out ourselves,” Sayman added.
In addition to the profile-building feature, Sayman highlighted that the platform provides many useful features for free. These include undoing accidental swipes and seeing which other users like you.
