Google Increases App Title Limit To 50 Characters

Google Play

Google has increased the character limit for app titles on the Play Store.

The limit was recently raised from 30 characters to 50.

This title limit is for the name of the app, developers having a further 80 characters to add more details in the app’s short description.

The entire app description limit, on the other hand, is set at 4,000 characters.

Google’s 50 character app title limit is the same as Apple’s, who capped the length of app names last September.

The company did this because developers were trying to influence the search process by using very long app names.

Despite having been announced by Google in July, according to a report in Android Police, apps including Waze have been taking advantage of the longer limit since June.
