happn Teases New Audio Feature Ahead of September Launch

happn is preparing to launch a new audio feature that will allow users to hear a match’s voice before making a connection.

The new product aims to provide a more immersive and sensory online dating experience, and is set to be released in September.

Hearing the other person’s voice is often one of the last traits that online daters get to experience. happn is trying to change this by introducing a sensory aspect which helps users share their unique tone and rhythm.

Didier Rappaport, CEO of happn, explained in a statement: “Once again, we want to use technology to improve the dating experience for singles. The integration of the senses into online dating is one of the biggest challenges applications will face in the coming years.

“We have chosen to start with the voice, and we are convinced it will totally revolutionise how we meet and get to know other people.”

In November last year, happn offered all users in the UK free video calls during the country’s second lockdown, through the app’s premium virtual dating feature. The offer is limited to one free call per match, lasting up to an hour.

It was initially rolled out to singles in June, but users only got the first five minutes of a call free, and had to pay for the time spent thereafter.
