Hinge Releases 2022 Predictions For Dating
Hinge has released their predictions for dating in 2022, offering insight and research into what they believe will be the most significant trends in the next twelve months. The research and predictions were conducted by the popular dating platform alongside their Director of Relationship Science, Logan Ury.
Hinge’s research found that 90% of users are trying to spend less time on social media, and want their dates to do the same. Similarly, 78% of Hinge users say it’s a red flag when someone is too into Instagram. The top reasons users consider it a red flag to be too into Instagram are because it’s a sign that they may be too self-absorbed and it’s a sign of insecurity. In the same vein, 82% of Hinge users say it’s a red flag when someone is too into Snapchat, and the top reason users consider it a red flag to be too into Snapchat is because it creates more opportunities for flirting and cheating.
In 2022, Hinge predicts more daters are going to open up about their mental health journey early on, as an overwhelming majority of users highlighted the attractiveness of taking care of your mental health.
91% of Hinge singles would prefer to date someone who goes to therapy — and you’re more likely to get a second date if you mention going to therapy on a first date. The research also showed that 89% of Hinge users say they are more likely to go on a second date with someone who mentioned on the first date that they go to therapy, yet only 8% feel comfortable bringing up therapy on the first date.
97% of Hinge would prefer to date someone who actively takes care of their mental health and two-thirds are open to going to couples therapy/counselling one day.
