Inner Circle Refunds Users For Emotional Distress From Bad Dates

At the end of last year, Inner Circle launched a prize giveaway to refund users in the UK, the Netherlands and Brazil for the bad dates they experienced during the pandemic.

Entrants uploaded stories about their dating disasters to ‘Refund My S*** Date‘, and the platform awarded self-care prizes to the worst ones, such as annual Headspace subscriptions and £100 vouchers for hair and beauty treatments with Treatwell .

David Vermeulen, CEO and Founder of Inner Circle, said in a statement: “Dating has been tough this year, so we want to help people by giving them something to offset any emotional damage they’ve experienced.

“This campaign is our way of helping people get back on their feet before they start thinking about dating again.”

Some of the submitted stories included being repeatedly called by the wrong name, having a lack of available toilets during a walk, and being told off by parents while on a virtual date.

Inner Circle partnered with Time Out in London and Glamour in Brazil to promote the campaign. In total, more than 1,000 bad dates were presented.

The dating brand also surveyed single adults in the UK to find out how the pandemic has impacted their dating lives. Almost two-third of respondents said they were negatively impacted, while 70% said the worst part was not being able to meet their matches is bars or restaurants.
