A New York law could signal the end of people posing with tigers in online dating pictures.
The trend of people setting their online dating photo to them cuddling or posing next to a tiger in captivity recently spawned the tumblr Tinder Guys With Tigers.
However New York legislation could be passed that would forbid people taking pictures with tigers in captivity.
Manhattan Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal said that the law is to increase safety at travelling circuses and country fairs.
She said the law was necessary because in the last 15 years there have been seven incidents of tigers escaping or hurting New Yorkers.
However she was aware that the bill would also halt an emerging trend in online dating.
Rosenthal told the NY Post:
“They can still pose with bears and monkeys.
“They just have to take big cats off their list.”
If the law is broken, people could be hit with a $500 fine.
The bill was passed by State Senate and Assembly, and now goes before Governor Cuomo before becoming law.
