Man Stabbed Woman He Met On Dating Site When He Found Out She Was Transgender

A former US Navy sailor stabbed a woman he met online dating 119 times after she revealed to him that she was transgender.

Dee Whigham, 25, revealed she was born a man to Dwanya Hickerson, 21, after they had sex on their first meeting since they started speaking on an online dating site.

He knifed Whigham multiple times in the face and slashed her throat in a hotel room before leaving her for dead, Mississippi’s Jacksonville circuit court heard.

The pair had been chatting online for two months before meeting for the first time on 23rd July last year in the city of Biloxi.

The hospital nurse picked Hickerson up at Keesler Air Force Base, then drove them both to her hotel.

CCTV footage showed the two walking into her hotel room, and 23 minutes later him leaving without her.

An Air Force instructor had recognised Hickerson in a police appeal over the killing and reported him to detectives.

He was jailed for 40 years without parole after having pleading guilty to second-degree murder in court.

He will also serve 15 years for robbery because he took the victim’s mobile phone and purse.

Whigham’s mother, Vickie Blackney Whigham, criticised Hickerson’s punishment, saying “I think the plea is a slap in the face. He gets a chance to see his family and I don’t have that chance with my child.”
