Match Group Announces Future Plans and New Tinder Student Feature
Match Group has announced a brand new Tinder feature that will be specifically aimed at college students.
Tinder U will be a new in-app experience that is focused on helping to connect students. The matches will extend to all students in a user’s area, not just the ones who attend the same school.
The latest update is under development, but will be ready to be launched and marketed during the ‘Back to School’ period.
The announcement came as a part of Match Group’s Q2 Earnings Report and Investors Presentation. The company also commented on the advancement of other Tinder features.
Tinder Picks and Places have both received positive feedback from initial market testing. Picks adds further value to Gold subscriptions and as a result, Tinder has seen a rise in the percentage of its users that are signed up to the premium service.
Furthermore, the integration of Bitmojis in Mexico and Canada has been positive so far. Tinder is the first dating app to partner with Snap Kits.
Hinge joined the Match Group family in June 2018, when the company purchased a 51% controlling stake, with the right to acquire the remaining shares.
The app has been growing quickly, with monthly downloads up by 400% over the last 12 months. Match Group revealed that a significant market push is planned for the second half this year, to try and keep the downloads rising.
Crown, the app that presents daily brackets to users, was added to Match Group’s portfolio during Q2. It had a strong marketing launch in LA and, over the coming months, there will be a push to release it in other leading cities.
Chispa, Match Group’s dating platform targeted at Latinos, has shown strong initial growth, but it is yet to start monetising.
