OkCupid is introducing another voting badge that members can add to their dating profiles ahead of the upcoming US Presidential Elections in November.
The risqué pin is part of the new ‘VILF’ campaign, a play on popular slang terms which stands for ‘Voter I’d Like to F***’. It’s hoped that the platform’s millennial community will be encouraged to register to vote and then make new connections based on their political commitment.
Users can also purchase a range of merchandise, such as t-shirts, tote bags and poster boards, to spread the initiative’s message in an offline capacity.
Melissa Hobley, CMO of OkCupid, explained in a statement: “Practicing your right to vote is the biggest turn-on to OkCupid singles today, which is why we launched our Voter 2020 badge this month.
“Now, we’re using VILF to bring it to life and encourage singles across the nation to register and vote this November, because there’s nothing sexier than exercising your rights to vote.”
The Match Group-owned dating brand launched a ‘Voter 2020’ badge earlier this month, which serves a similar purpose without the cheeky connotations. So far, more than 125,000 users have included this on their profile.
It also added a ‘Black Lives Matter’ badge in June, as an extra avenue for people to show their support and inspire a conversation.
OkCupid has just undergone the largest redesign in its history, with the introduction of the new ‘Stacks’ layout. This sorts potential matches into different categories, such as those who are nearby, currently online or answer a lot of questions, which should lead to more worthwhile connections.
