In a recent article for Forbes, the co-founder and CEO of Leanplum explains why he thinks 2017 will be “the year of the smart app”.

Firstly, Momchil Kyurkchiev says smart apps will begin to predict and respond to users’ needs in more sophisticated ways, perhaps offering suggestions at optimum times based on factors like location or what events someone has listed in their calendar.

Dating apps, for example, could offer users a number of date venues and meeting times based on previous interactions with the app, Kyurkchiev suggests.

Secondly, Kyurkchiev predicts that chatbots will be introduced more widely, as a way of improving communications with customers.

Thirdly, he predicts that smart apps will focus on automation, by better personalising automated messaging campaigns.

Kyurkchiev said: “As I look forward to what the rest of the new year will bring, I envision a world where technology predicts our needs and automatically offers solutions — often before we realize we need them.

“In 2017, with the help of predictive analytics, machine learning algorithms and mobile marketing automation, we will make strides toward this dream.”
