Tinder Introduces Curated Matches with ‘Tinder Picks’

Tinder has unveiled ‘Tinder Picks’ – a feature which will give Gold members a curated set of profiles to like and Super Like.

A user’s Picks will match their interests in fields including education, hobbies and employment.

Tinder gives each select user a tag based on details from their profile. Someone who describes their love for travel, for example, may earn the tag ‘Adventurer’ on the Picks screen.

“With Picks, we’re offering users a new way to discover the most interesting people on Tinder,” said Brian Norgard, Chief Product Officer.

“Picks delivers a personalized, premium user experience within Tinder Gold that puts a spotlight on unique characteristics that make our users stand out.”

Singles will see their Picks via a new diamond button towards the top of the Discovery screen. Only Gold users will be able to view the entire profiles, send likes and send Super Likes, however.

Users will receive a new set of Picks every day, and they can also buy more ‘à la carte’ in decks of 10, 20 or 30.

Picks is currently live in the U.K., Russia, Germany, France, Turkey, Mexico, Sweden, Brazil, the Netherlands and Canada. If implementation is successful in these geographies, the feature will roll out to the USA and other markets.

TechCrunch likens the feature to the Coffee Meets Bagel interface, noting that “the premise is to offer an alternative to endless swiping”.
