Tinder Renews ‘Swipe Night’ For a Second Season
Tinder has confirmed that it will release a second season of the popular in-app interactive story, Swipe Night, in the US this summer.
The decision was made following the success of the first season which brought in millions of users and increased matches and conversations by 26% and 12% respectively.
The new series will once again be directed by Karena Evans, who has also directed music videos for Drake and Coldplay, and written by Jessica Stickles and Julie Sharbutt.
Evans said to TechCrunch: “Working on Swipe Night was such a fulfilling experience for me. I’m in search of projects that impact, shift or curate a culture and couldn’t be more excited to return for more.”
There is also a possibility that Tinder will alter the formula a bit to keep the product feeling fresh.
Swipe Night was first formulated to foster conversation between daters and suggest more personalised matches. The show let daters choose their actions at key points in the story, which were subsequently shown on their profile.
Tinder said that users resonated with the experience, especially Gen Z who make up half of all Tinder users.
It’s unclear when series two will be released internationally, but series one has only recently been launched in several other European and Asian countries.
