Tinder Updates Safety Guide for Australians
Tinder has collaborated with WESNET, the Women’s Services NEtwork, and Chanel Contos, founder of the Teach Us Consent organisation, to improve its Dating Safety Guide it offers to all its users in Australia. Most users of the app in Australia rated safety as an important feature, but when surveyed, only 1 in 3 singles admitted they were aware of the features Tinder offered.
The Tinder Dating Safety Guide walks users through everything they can use on the app to make sure their experience is safe, but also has advice about steps and measures they can take to ensure a fun and secure experience themselves. The guide covers the app’s house rules, community guidelines, dos and don’ts of meeting in person, sexual health, unmatching and reporting and more. You can head here to download the full guide.
Chanel Contos who worked closely to help Tinder write the guide said:
“This guide is not only a reminder for daters to remain respectful on dating apps, like Tinder, and in person, but it also makes sure users know that there are safety features there to support and protect them, and that we encourage their use. This is an important initiative that addresses pertinent problems and helps educate Australian’s on dating decorum.”
The Dating Guide was promoted previously by the app, but this new revamped version will be pushed to Tinder users again, and an initiative to raise awareness of the security features and guide has been started. Safety is such an important part of any dating or friend finding app. Not all users can be trusted, and innocent users need to be protected. The apps can only do so much, and users need to naturally take some responsibility themselves – and guides like this help them know how to.
