Viral TikTok Exposes Gender Differences in Online Dating

A viral TikTok, viewed over 362,000 times with 28,000 likes, exposes how men and women have different experiences on dating apps.

The video shows a man reacting to the number of matches his female colleague has on Hinge, and compares it with his own experience.

The man tells viewers that his colleague started using Hinge, and after two days she’s already matched with 39 people.

“Do you realise for guys, we have to wait weeks to get likes”, he says. He describes the situation of sending out likes as a man on dating apps as “shooting a basketball in the dark backwards and hoping it lands in a goal that’s almost smaller than the actual ball”.

In a Part 2, it’s revealed that his female colleague is speaking with 17 of those matches concurrently, talking to 4 of them on Snapchat.

Some of the popular comments on the original post are “from those 39 only like 2 are good”, with the original poster replying “there’s no hope for men”.

One male commenter says “I love Tinder. It shows me how many people don’t like me in a 50 mile radius”.

A female commenter shares her own experience saying “I sat with my guy friend and we did a 5 minute bumble swipe where we had to swipe on everyone. I got 55 matches he got 2. It’s so rough for guys.”
