Slack Integrates With Google Calendar So You’ll Never Miss A Meeting
For those of you who use office communication tool Slack, this new feature could come in very handy.
Slack has just launched an integration with Google Calendar that aims to make sure you never miss another meeting.
The Google integration lets Slack users create reminders about meetings for an entire channel, as well as for yourself.
After you connect your Google account with Slack, you can link channels to your calendar, create custom reminders before events, get a daily digest each morning, or a weekly digest on a day/time of your choosing.
In a blog post, Slack gives some examples of possible use cases:
- Does your company have a shared calendar for the Marketing team? Send reminders to your #marketing channel 15 minutes before every weekly status meeting so everyone’s on board.
- Do you schedule a one-on-one with your boss every Tuesday? Your daily 9am calendar reminder in @slackbot will ensure you won’t show up unprepared.
- Set the company-wide Birthday and Holiday calendar to auto-post in your #office channel and get your celebration emoji ready every morning.

After this is configured, your Google calendar messages will appear in Slack channels at the times you’ve chosen.
This means that team members can interact with the calendar messages directly, either expanding or following links to Google Calendar event pages for additional options.
