Bharat Matrimony Invests $500K to Bring AI Astrology to Matchmaking

In a move that melds India’s cultural traditions and generative AI innovation, Matrimony.com’s flagship brand Bharat Matrimony has committed US$500,000 to Bangalore’s AI startup Ask My Guru (AMG). This funding follows the company’s earlier $1.2 million seed round, bringing its total backing to $1.72 million as it expands its AI-powered Vedic astrology platform.

Ask My Guru positions itself as the world’s first interactive Vedic Shastra platform, offering compatibility assessments, life insights, and predictive guidance grounded in Indian astrological traditions. The company’s founders, Krishna Mohan Vedula and Vivek Sadamate, bring prior consumer-platform experience and are focused on scaling the system to support more languages, regional astrological methods, and deeper predictive models.

Under this agreement, AI-powered astrology features will be integrated into Bharat Matrimony’s matchmaking ecosystem, enabling real-time compatibility scores, personalized astrological guidance, and layered insights on relationships and life decisions. The goal is to shift AI astrology from an auxiliary add-on into a core component of matchmaking: “uniting trust, cultural depth, and technological efficiency in one seamless experience,” according to the founders.

The cultural significance of astrology for many people – not just within India, but all across the world – means that this investment will likely attract more users than most realise. Depending on the brand’s future plans, it may not be the only cultural touchstone or auxiliary system that gets integrated into Bharat Matrimony, or lay the groundwork for similar investments being planned for Matrimony.com’s other brands and apps (such as RainbowLuv or Jodii).
