Bindr Secures $75,000 In UpPrize Social Innovation Challenge

Bindr, the dating app focused on inclusivity and fluid labels, as won $75,000 in funding through the UpPrize Social Innovation Challenge. This challenge, launched back in 2015, is a yearly event that awards injections of fresh funding to the most promising startups, entrepreneurs and business innovators in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region.

Mary Richardson, co-founder and CEO of Bindr, announced the win last week in a LinkedIn post and stated that the funding would be going towards helping the underrepresented communities that form a core part of the app’s user base and target audience. Given that Bindr already stands out thanks to its focus on fluid dating and flexible identities, it’s easy to imagine that this funding is going to make a big difference in the platform’s future operations.

While there currently isn’t any specific information available about Bindr’s future plans, the platform is still going strong even without this extra funding. The platform continues to see steady success and has become one of the more notable LGBTQ-friendly dating platforms on the market, with its lack of labels and open dating focus making it incredibly accessible to almost any user. Given Bindr’s previous successes at earning extra funding, there’s a good chance that this isn’t the last investor event that it will win.
