Christina Aguilera Takes Over Grindr Notifications in Festival Tie-In

Grindr has temporarily swapped out its signature notification “bloop” for a pop classic, partnering with Christina Aguilera in the run-up to her headline performance at San Francisco’s Portola Music Festival.

From September 15–22, U.S. users with notifications enabled will hear Aguilera’s “Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)” whenever they receive a new message on the app. Grindr previously altered its sound for the U.S. Open, adding an optional grunt sound bite, but this collaboration leans into the cross-connection between the LGBTQ+ dating platform and a prominent pop music queer icon.

The temporary change applies automatically, though users will need to have sound notifications enabled in their settings. After September 22, the app will revert to its original tone. This may make it the first time that Grindr has automatically changed its notification sound for all users.

Aguilera, who will perform at Portola on September 20, leaned into the partnership with upfront humor. “Portola, Grindr and me? That’s a threesome I can get behind,” she said in a statement. “When that ‘Come on Over’ sound hits at the festival, or wherever you’re celebrating, I hope things get spicy!”
