happn Launches “Single Support” Rent-Covering Campaign

Dating app happn has announced a Valentine’s Day 2026 initiative called “Single Support”, aimed at alleviating financial pressures faced by singles in the Netherlands. The campaign offers to pay half of one month’s rent or mortgage (up to €1,500) for three randomly selected participants, running from February 14 to 23, 2026.

The promotion is open to Dutch happn users via the app or the platform’s Dutch Instagram account. Winners will be drawn on February 23. happn frames the effort as a response to the economic realities of single life, where fixed costs like housing cannot be shared with a partner.

The campaign draws from a December 2025 survey of 1,158 Dutch happn users, which found that about one-third feel single life is significantly more expensive than being in a relationship. Housing costs were cited as the biggest burden by 32% of respondents, followed by groceries (14%). Additionally, 34% reported that financial strain negatively affects their mood and motivation to meet new people.

This is not happn’s first creative attention-grabbing campaign, with the app running a number of equally unique campaigns in Europe to stand out in a crowded market dominated by Tinder, Bumble, and local competitors. The “Single Support” effort aligns with happn’s location-based matching model, which prioritizes proximity and real-life encounters over extended online chatting.
