Snapchat Expands Home Safe Alerts to Any Location

Snapchat has extended its Home Safe arrival notification feature, originally launched in July 2025, to cover any user-specified location beyond just home. The update allows users to set automated alerts for various destinations, as well as saving options for areas that users visit on a regular basis.

The expanded system supports both one-time and recurring notifications. Users can configure alerts for everyday scenarios – such as arriving at a weekly class, practice, meeting, or a temporary stay while traveling – without needing to manually send updates each time. Once activated, the feature automatically notifies chosen Snapchat connections upon arrival, reducing reliance on memory or manual messaging.

Snapchat emphasized user control and privacy: “Snapchatters can set one-time or recurring alerts for places beyond their home, offering a simple, automatic way to share when they’ve arrived where they are going. Arrival Notifications now work for everyday moments – like letting someone know you’re back for the night while traveling, or automatically sharing when you arrive at a weekly class, practice, or meeting – without needing to remember to send a message.”

Alerts are restricted to friends a user has explicitly chosen to share location with via Snap Map, which remains off by default. One-time alerts expire after being sent or within 24 hours, while recurring ones can be set for regular routines. Since its initial launch, the Home Safe feature has seen significant adoption, with Snapchat reporting over one million activations in the past six months.
