Threads Introduces ‘Dear Algo’ Feature for Feed Personalization
Threads has launched “Dear Algo,” an AI-powered tool that allows users to temporarily adjust their feed by posting public requests for more or less of specific topics. The feature, announced February 11, 2026, is now available in the U.S., New Zealand, Australia, and the U.K., with plans for wider international rollout.
To use Dear Algo, users type “Dear Algo” followed by their preference in a public post (e.g., “Dear Algo, show me more posts about podcasts” or “Dear Algo, show me less about a TV show”). The algorithm then modifies the feed for three days. Because requests are public, others can see, repost, and apply them to their own feeds, turning personalization into a shared, community-driven experience.
Meta described the feature as a way to adapt to sudden shifts in interest: “Threads is where you go to keep up with what’s happening right now. But sometimes, what matters to you changes in an instant, and you want your Threads feed to reflect that – whether it’s seeing more posts during a live NBA game or less about a TV show you haven’t caught up on yet.”
Unlike the existing “Not Interested” button on Threads, X, and Bluesky – which removes individual posts or topics – Dear Algo offers broader, time-bound control over feed content. The public nature of requests may limit appeal for private preferences but encourages discovery of new conversations and trends.
