Threads Launches Podcast Profile Promotions
Threads, the social media platform developed by Meta Platforms, is introducing new features aimed at podcasters and their audiences. The app has begun rolling out tools that allow creators to add their podcast details directly to their profiles and enable enhanced link previews when episodes are shared in-app.
Under the update, podcast links shared in Threads are highlighted with a custom thumbnail and a “link card” treatment, making them far more visible in the feed. Single-tap access to a creator’s podcast is facilitated via a dedicated field in the user’s profile, promoting direct discovery and listener conversion.
According to Meta, these enhancements represent the initial phase of a broader commitment to supporting podcast creators within Threads. “It’s been great connecting with podcasters to talk about what’s next, and you can expect us to lean in here much more over the coming months,” said the platform’s chief, Connor Hayes.
The strategic move reflects Threads’ attempt to capture the “conversation layer” around audio content—something traditionally spread across forums, streaming platforms, and other social networks. By offering a centralized thread of discussion tied to each episode, Threads aims to become a preferred space for podcast-driven engagement.
In launching these features, Threads points to a broader industry context where podcasting has reached hundreds of millions of listeners globally, and where creator engagement and community-driven dialogue are increasingly valuable. While the platform clarifies it is not becoming a podcast distribution service, it is positioning itself as a hub for creators to build and engage audiences.
