Dinder Club – Dating App for Singles with Intellectual Disabilities
Dinder Club is a new dating and social platform operating in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. Its mission is to foster love and friendship between individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Describing itself as a “social transformation project”, Dinder Club looks to improve the quality of life of those with intellectual disabilities by helping them find social and romantic connections.
The platform works closely with local disability groups and foundations. Unlike other dating apps, users on Dinder Club are signed up through their local organisation and must complete a series of tests before gaining access.
Once they’re registered, users can choose between joining organised group activities, or chatting 1-on-1 with algorithm-recommended singles. These smaller conversations can then lead to dates at a series of selected venues.
The Dinder Club initiative was started after individuals with intellectual disabilities shared that there wasn’t a digital dating product specifically for them.
Its website states that the platform looks to protect this community, especially with higher rates of sexual abuse recorded amongst those with these disabilities. “The priority for the Dinder Club team has always been to create a safe space for users to build equitable relationships”, it shares.
Looking ahead, Dinder Club is looking to expand beyond Barcelona and operate across Spain.
