Hinge Expands ‘One More Hour’ Initiative to France

Hinge is launching its One More Hour social impact program in France as part of a broader global effort to encourage in-person connections among young people. The initiative, which began in the United States in 2024 and expanded to the UK in 2025, addresses the growing loneliness epidemic affecting Gen Z.

According to research conducted by Ipsos for Hinge in April 2026, 62% of Gen Z adults aged 18–30 in France report experiencing loneliness. Economic pressures are a major barrier: 59% say inflation has forced them to reduce social outings, while 48% feel there are not enough affordable places to meet others. Despite these challenges, 65% express interest in meeting new people in person.

As part of the 2026 global fund, Hinge is donating $1.5 million internationally, with approximately $150,000–$200,000 allocated to support community groups in France. The company has already provided funding to five local organizations: TRANSpire, Cafe Rosa, TuoWin Rugby Club, Wassla, and Centre LGBTQ Marseille.

Hinge is also bringing its flagship event Assemble to Marseille on May 30, 2026, in partnership with Trippin. The event at La Friche de la Belle de Mai will spotlight local social groups and aims to extend community-building efforts beyond Paris.

To date, Hinge has donated $2.3 million globally through One More Hour. The program includes additional resources such as a social groups directory across multiple countries and the Hinge Phonebook, which offers free ideas for in-person activities. Tamika Young, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Hinge, stated that the initiative recognizes both the desire for connection and the real barriers young people face.
