Jigsaw Dating Adopts Yoti Photo Verification
Dating app Jigsaw has added photo verification technology to its platform, ensuring every profile belongs to a real person. Upon registering for the dating app, users will now be required to submit a selfie, which will be verified by Yoti.
This new tool, which prevents people from using fake profile photos, looks to provide Jigsaw users with greater confidence as they search for romance on the platform.
For existing users, 80% have verified their profiles so far. Those who haven’t, whether it’s because their selfie and profile photos didn’t match, or because their selfie failed the liveness test, will be blocked from the app until their verification is successful.
Yoti, which helps to verify identities and credentials online and in-person, provided the technology for this new safety measure. The company’s passive liveness technology ‘MyFace’ verifies that submitted selfies are legitimate, and not digital uploads or still images from other sources.
Alex Durrant, CEO of Jigsaw said: ‘’Partnering with Yoti has enabled us to make selfie verification mandatory for all members of Jigsaw. Our mission is to create the safest and most rewarding space to fall in love; our digital jigsaw puzzle already naturally has secure aspects but adding this extra layer of verification technology ensures every face you reveal on Jigsaw is a real one!”.
“We’re very pleased to help Jigsaw Dating give daters more trust and confidence about who they’re connecting with online”, said Robin Tombs, CEO of Yoti. “Daters can be confident they are talking to a real person as they know every account is verified. They can focus on exploring real connections with authentic daters”, he added.
Identity verification plays a key role in online safety, with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission reporting nearly 70,000 Americans fell victim to online romance scams in 2022.
