AI Dating Assistants Have Made Instagram a Dating Hotspot
As frustration with traditional dating apps grows, more singles are turning to Instagram and similar social or chat platforms as their primary platform for meeting potential partners, according to data about uploaded conversations from Rizz, an AI-powered dating assistant. Even if users are meeting on dating apps, they are still highly likely to shift the conversation to another platform and continue the flirting there.
Data from Rizz indicates that 22% of uploaded conversation screenshots now come from Instagram, marking an 8% rise from the previous year. In contrast, dating apps like Tinder (11%), Hinge (10%), and Bumble (4%) are seeing a smaller share of user activity. Other messaging platforms such as iMessage (15%) and WhatsApp (11%) are also becoming key spaces for dating conversations.
While many dating app interactions eventually transition to Instagram or text messaging, Rizz’s findings suggest that Instagram is increasingly being used as the starting point for romantic connections. With social media playing a larger role in modern dating, platforms like Instagram may continue to challenge traditional dating apps as the go-to space for meeting new people.
On the other hand, this also opens up an obvious niche for dating apps to provide similar experiences themselves. As users get more and more disillusioned with the conventional swipe-based dating systems, platforms that enable similar natural interactions could become a major draw.
