Apple Introduces New App Store Age Rating Rules for Dating and AI Companion Apps

Apple is introducing new App Store age rating requirements for dating and relationship apps, including AI companions that offer romantic or sexual interactions. Starting November 16, 2026, developers will need to declare whether their apps include dating and relationship features or allow users to share their real-world location.

Apps classified under Dating and Relationships will receive a minimum age rating of 18+. The new classification also covers AI companions that engage users in romantic or sexual conversations.

Developers must complete the new declarations in App Store Connect by January 12, 2027. In Brazil, local regulations require an A18 rating for dating and relationship apps and an A16 rating for apps with shared-location features.
