Chapter 2 Dating Reaches Break-Even After Record Revenue Growth
Specialist dating group Chapter 2 Dating Ltd has reached break-even for the first time after reporting three consecutive months of record revenue and international membership of more than 20,000.
The company, which launched in 2022 with a dating and community platform for widows and widowers, said May, June and July each set new revenue records. July was its strongest month to date, with revenue 11.2% above the previous company record.
Its two established widow-focused services, Chapter2Dating.app and WidowsFire.dating, are both currently reporting record trading performance, while the wider group has expanded since the addition of SoberLove.app in 2025. SoberLove targets sober and sober-curious singles.
Reaching break-even means the company’s revenue is now covering its member acquisition and operating costs. Chapter 2 Dating said it is achieving this while spending more than 50% less on marketing than at the same point last year, suggesting that its recent growth has become less dependent on marketing expenditure.
The three platforms have more than 20,000 members across the UK, US, Canada and Australia, with approximately half of the membership based in the US. The company has raised £450,000 in investment to date.
Chapter 2 was founded by Nicky Wake following the death of her husband in 2020. The initial platform was developed around the specific challenges faced by people returning to dating after bereavement. Feedback from its community subsequently contributed to the development of WidowsFire, which focuses on intimacy and companionship for people who may not be seeking another long-term relationship. Meanwhile, SoberLove broadened the company’s niche approach into another community, providing a dating platform for people who are sober or exploring sobriety.
The company said it is now preparing for further international expansion and is developing a new AI product, although details have yet to be announced.
