Dating App Study Finds Healthcare More Attractive Than Finance
A recent survey conducted by dating app The League reveals a major shift in what singles find attractive in professional partners: healthcare careers now outrank finance. According to the poll of 1,000 single men and 1,000 single women, 29 percent named the healthcare sector as the most dateable, while just 16–18 percent viewed finance in the same light.
Within healthcare, doctors stand out. Roughly 26 percent of respondents flagged being a doctor as especially appealing. The dating expert from The League, Rachel DeAlto, suggests the attraction lies in a combination of financial stability, intelligence, and caregiving – qualities that many people deem crucial in a serious partner.
The survey also highlights evolving preferences around work-life balance. Thirty-four percent of those polled said they want to date someone who prioritizes balance over ambition, which might help explain why finance has dropped down the list. Meanwhile, education and emergency-response professions are also gaining traction, with 23 percent and 19 percent of singles respectively naming them among the most attractive.
These findings come amid broader changes in how daters think about their partners’ careers. In another report, The League noted that career ambition remains a major factor in compatibility. The survey suggests that singles aren’t just swayed by salary – or by the power of traditional “finance bros” – but are increasingly valuing purpose, empathy, and long-term alignment in career paths.
This shift could have meaningful implications for both dating platforms and app users. As The League’s data indicates, providers of dating services may need to rethink how they surface matches, profile career information, and help users articulate what really matters to them in a partner. For professionals in healthcare, the survey signals not only respect but real romantic demand from singles who are prioritising shared values and connection over prestige alone.
