Due Matchmaking Firm Fined Over Major Data Leak
South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission has fined leading matchmaking company Duo 1.2 billion won (approximately $810,000) following a significant data breach that exposed the personal information of nearly 430,000 users.
The breach took place in January 2025 when an employee’s work computer was hacked. According to the regulator, Duo failed to notify authorities of the incident for three days without providing any valid justification. South Korean law requires companies to report possible data leaks immediately upon discovery.
