Holi Sparks New Romantic Connections, Survey Finds
As Holi celebrations bring people together in a burst of color and festivity, dating trends in India are also seeing an uptick in new connections. According to a recent survey conducted by QuackQuack, one of India’s leading dating apps, 2 in 7 matches made during Holi festivities evolve into real-life relationships.
QuackQuack’s Founder and CEO, Ravi Mittal, highlighted the significance of the festival in fostering new relationships, stating, “Holi is all about embracing joy, which makes it an exciting time to begin something new. The new survey data shows that beyond flirting online and the festive spirit, many users are forming real relationships. We noticed that it happens often around auspicious days and group celebrations.”
The survey, conducted in early March, gathered insights from over 9,500 users across Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities, ranging from 20 to 35 years old and working in various industries, including IT, healthcare, sales, and finance.
One unique trend emerging among younger users is gauging compatibility based on favorite Holi colors. QuackQuack’s data reveals that 21% of matches initiated conversations about “favorite gulal colors,” with certain shades being linked to personality traits. Additionally, many users opted for group settings and public spaces for meetups, prioritizing safety and comfort.
The survey also noted a contrast in dating patterns, with younger users often engaging in fleeting connections, while those over 25 showed a stronger interest in serious relationships. Despite the carefree nature of the festival, users emphasized cautious interactions, with many relying on friends to review conversations and ensure respectful communication.
