Pinterest Pin Ads Deliver Strong ROI for Packaged Goods Brands

Pinterest has released new research showing that its Pin promotions can generate positive returns for consumer packaged goods (CPG) brands.

The study, conducted by Circana, analyzed 17 matched market tests across multiple regions and product categories. It examined how Pinterest ads influenced shopping activity and measured incremental return on investment (ROI)

.According to the findings, 82% of the campaigns studied produced positive incremental ROI, meaning the additional sales generated exceeded the cost of the Pinterest media spend. Additionally, 76% of the campaigns achieved an ROI of 1.5x or higher. The research also found that Pinterest campaigns in the EMEA region performed 17% above Circana’s general social media benchmark for ROI.

Pinterest noted that the platform’s visual search nature allows ads to appear when users are actively seeking ideas or products, rather than after they have already made a purchase decision. This positioning may contribute to stronger conversion from awareness to actual shopping behavior.

The company emphasized that the results reflect real-world performance in tested campaigns, though outcomes can vary depending on campaign execution, product category, and market conditions. The 17 tests do not represent every possible Pinterest campaign but provide evidence that Pin promotions can drive measurable business results for CPG brands.
