QuackQuack Survey: Modern Indian Men Are Redefining Dating

A recent survey by QuackQuack, India’s leading dating app, reveals how modern Indian men are breaking traditional dating stereotypes. Conducted among 12,000 male users from Tier 1, 2, and 3 cities, the study showcases a shift toward openness, vulnerability, and a focus on equality in relationships.

The survey, held in early November, included participants aged 20 to 35, ranging from students to working professionals. A significant takeaway is that men are prioritizing emotional well-being over societal expectations to appear detached. Many respondents reported discussing their “red flags,” such as past relationship mistakes and mental health struggles, early in their interactions – and this transparency aims to foster healthier connections.

Online dating has also enabled men to embrace vulnerability, with 26% admitting they find it easier to share personal challenges through digital communication. This trend of openness, described as “sigmas breaking stigmas,” allows men to discuss anxieties and family matters more freely. Self-awareness is another highlight, with 60% of men aged 20 to 30 emphasizing the importance of mental health and self-care. Many now approach relationships with a focus on self-improvement, rejecting outdated notions of masculinity.

Equality in relationships is gaining traction, with 37% of respondents advocating mutual independence. Men are increasingly comfortable sharing financial responsibilities and supporting partners who earn more, reflecting a progressive attitude toward gender roles. Finally, setting boundaries is becoming more common. Nearly 30% of respondents shared that they establish limits around personal time and exclusivity, aiming for balanced and sustainable relationships.

This not only means a change in general dating culture, but might also hint at shifts in the apps nad matchmaker platforms that a typical Indian man may use in the near future. As dating attitudes and habits change, so do the tools a person uses to get dates, and this focus on self-improvement over traditional masculinity may require dating platforms in India to change their focus if they want to maintain success.
