RAW Dating Invests $100,000 in Anti-Ghosting Campaign

As ghosting – the process of suddenly cutting off contact with a match – gets increasingly more frequent in modern online dating, RAW has launched the “Ghosting Killer” feature, which prevents users from initiating new chats until they’ve responded to pending messages. This is part of a larger $100,000 attempt to properly combat ghosting through a slew of new features and tweaks to the platform itself.

This new “Bye-Bye Ghosting” campaign aims to reframe ghosting as an opportunity for engagement and rewards. Alongside the Ghosting Killer, users who’ve been ghosted are randomly selected to receive weekly incentives like popular gift cards each, increased app visibility, and free Premium access. This effectively compensates users for having their matches ruined, which helps ease the burnout they might feel if they’re ghosted a few too many times.

According to RAW, the Ghosting Killer feature has already lowered the ghosting rate on the platform significantly, with only 1-5% of users leaving messages unanswered. Additionally, RAW’s live photo verification system ensures that users display authentic, up-to-date images, further improving communication and minimizing fake profiles.

RAW’s initiatives align with its broader mission to foster respect and better communication in online dating. Co-founder Marina Anderson emphasizes that this campaign is about creating a more enjoyable, burnout-free dating experience. The app’s focus on honest interactions has led to impressive results: 92% of female users and 99% of male users reportedly maintain fewer than five unanswered chats, meaning higher engagement on both sides of any given match.
