Snapchat Expands Creator Subscriptions to More Eligible Users
Snapchat has broadened access to its Creator Subscriptions program, making it available to all qualifying creators rather than limiting it to Snap Stars. The announcement came on April 1, 2026, during the platform’s first-ever Snappys awards ceremony.
The subscription feature launched in February 2026 initially for select Snap Stars – verified creators with large audiences. It allows creators to offer paid monthly access to exclusive content, including subscriber-only Stories, direct Snaps, priority replies to public Stories, and ad-free viewing of their material.
Creators who meet the criteria for a Snapchat Creator Account can now enable subscriptions. Eligibility requires a Public Profile, consistent posting to Stories and Spotlight, and an established audience. While exact thresholds are not publicly defined, the company’s separate creator revenue share program typically requires at least 50,000 followers and significant monthly view time on Spotlight. Some users have reportedly qualified with around 30,000 followers, though approval appears to involve Snapchat’s discretion.
The expansion aims to give more creators tools to build direct relationships with fans and generate recurring revenue. Subscribers pay a monthly fee set by the creator, typically in a range observed in early testing between $4.99 and $19.99. Creators generally retain a substantial portion of the revenue after platform fees.
The move was revealed at the inaugural Snappys awards show on March 31, 2026, which celebrated top Snap Stars across categories like entertainment, sports, beauty, and comedy. Snapchat described the event as a new flagship moment highlighting creators as cultural influencers.
