Threads Rolls Out Indented Replies, Prepares Updated Web Interface
Threads is introducing indented replies to make it easier for users to follow conversation threads directly in the main feed.
The new format displays replies below the original post in a structured, indented layout rather than showing them in the same linear orientation as the main content. This change aims to improve readability and help users track ongoing discussions more effectively.
The indented reply feature is currently rolling out to all iOS users. Threads is also testing the format on Android, with a wider release expected soon.
In addition to the reply update, Threads is developing a revised web interface that more closely resembles the mobile app experience. The updated desktop version features a simplified layout with the main feed occupying the center-right portion of the screen and a navigation bar on the left, similar to the design used by X (formerly Twitter).
The current web version of Threads uses a multi-column layout reminiscent of the old TweetDeck. The upcoming redesign moves toward a cleaner, more focused single-feed view. Importantly, the new web UI will also include access to direct messages (DMs) for the first time, integrating messaging into the desktop experience.
Messages on the web are not yet available for public testing, but are expected to appear for users in the coming weeks. Better reply visibility and a more intuitive web interface could help users engage more effectively with conversations and maintain connections through the app.
