TikTok Launches Digital Commerce Training Program with International Chamber of Commerce

TikTok has partnered with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) to launch a new education initiative aimed at helping small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in developing regions use the platform more effectively for promotion and sales.

The program, called Digital Commerce Labs, will provide training, mentorship, and digital resources to business owners in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. It combines TikTok’s commerce tools with the ICC’s expertise in international trade and its network of local chambers of commerce.

According to TikTok, the initiative seeks to expand market access for small businesses, build long-term resilience, and increase revenue opportunities through better use of the app’s shopping and promotional features. The training will focus on practical ways businesses can reach new customers, build brands, and drive sales directly on the platform.

The program is part of TikTok’s broader push to grow its in-app shopping capabilities outside of China. In 2025, Douyin (TikTok’s Chinese version) generated over $500 billion in gross merchandise volume, while TikTok itself reported $130 billion. ByteDance earns a percentage of these sales, making e-commerce a key growth area for the company.

The Digital Commerce Labs are scheduled to launch first in Latin America and Africa this spring, with further expansion across Africa and into Thailand later in 2026. The initiative aims to create a scalable education model that can be replicated in additional markets.
