X Introduces ‘Starterpacks’ Feature

X has announced plans to launch “Starterpacks”, a new tool that provides users with pre-curated lists of accounts to follow based on specific interests and topics. The feature, revealed by X’s head of product Nikita Bier on January 21, 2026, aims to help users discover relevant creators and voices across various categories.

The Starterpacks cover a wide range of niches, including News, Politics, Fashion, Technology, Business & Finance, Health & Fitness, Gaming, Stocks, Memes, and others. They also include region-specific or country-based selections, drawing from X’s internal analysis of top-performing posters in each area. The company spent several months compiling these lists using platform data to identify influential accounts.

Unlike Bluesky’s Starter Packs – which allow any user to create and share personalized collections of suggested follows – X’s version consists of company-curated selections. Bluesky introduced its feature in mid-2024 as a way to personalize onboarding and invite others into specific community segments, with packs limited in size and shareable across the network.

Bier indicated that the rollout to all X users is expected in the coming weeks, with some early access potentially available sooner. X is not alone in adopting similar functionality. Meta’s Threads began testing user-curated collections of profiles to follow in December 2024, presenting them during onboarding and in feeds to ease the discovery of topic-focused accounts. Decentralized platform Mastodon has also worked on comparable “Packs” for user onboarding.
