Tinder has just appointed a new head of operations in India.

Taru Kapoor will lead Tinder’s operations in India, its first base outside of the US.

Kapoor is a Harvard MBA graduate, and has previously worked as an Investment Analyst at Sequoia Capital, and was an associate at the Boston Consulting Group.

She will be tasked with establishing the Tinder brand in India, as well as boosting user growth and increasing engagement in the market.

Speaking about her appointment, Kapoor said: “Being part of a young brand like Tinder is both exciting and challenging. Tinder is already the market leader here without significant focussed efforts in the past and the future potential here is astounding.

“I am thrilled to be given the responsibility to take this brand to India, which we all know is among the largest, most dynamic and vibrant populations in the world.”

Tinder CEO and co-founder, Sean Rad – who was reinstated as CEO last year – said: “We have exciting plans for Tinder in 2016 and having Taru on board is a step towards making India one of our core markets. Taru’s passion for Tinder and understanding of the Indian market makes us even more confident in our plans to expand in India.”

Last year, Tinder was named Mashable’s best lifestyle iPhone app of all time, after an incredibly busy year rolling out its monetisation strategy, and continuing to cement its position as the biggest dating app in the world.
