AI Increasingly Used for Relationship and Intimate Advice in India
A survey conducted by Gleeden in partnership with IPSOS found that many Indians are using conversational AI tools for guidance on personal and intimate matters. The study, carried out in late February 2026 across 12 Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities, revealed that 66% of respondents have used AI to learn about sexual health and education. Sixty percent sought guidance for personal sexual concerns, while 55% used it for intimate questions and 58% for advice on improving romantic experiences.
Users cited privacy and the non-judgmental nature of AI as key reasons for its appeal. Unlike conversations with family or friends, AI provides a safe space to ask sensitive questions without fear of embarrassment or assumptions. This is particularly relevant in a society where discussions around relationships and intimacy are still evolving.
The survey also showed AI playing a role in relationship management. Many participants used it to navigate communication issues, understand emotional situations, and gain perspective before difficult conversations. Rather than replacing human connections, AI appears to serve as a digital confidant, helping users sort thoughts and explore different viewpoints.
Men showed slightly higher usage, with 40% seeking relationship advice from AI in the past 12 months compared to 35% of women. Younger generations lead adoption, but interest is growing across age groups.
Sybil Shiddell, Country Manager of Gleeden India, noted the growing demand for private, judgment-free support. She said AI helps users better understand their feelings and gain confidence in personal matters, particularly as discretion becomes more important in modern relationship
