Android Engineer Talks Tinder Features in ‘Swipe With’ Interview

Tinder is continuing its ‘Swipe With’ series, a number of interviews with employees from different levels of the company.

The first update of 2019 spotlighted Meha Garg, an Android Engineer who is part of the Post-Match team and works on features that make the communication process as attractive as possible.

She has been with the dating app since June 2016 and first worked on the integration with Spotify, allowing users to add their favourite song to their profile as an ‘Anthem’. Tinder is currently testing an update that would let matches send song previews from the streaming service to each other.

The latest feature from the Post-Match team is Tinder Feed, a side of the app that acts more like a social media channel. Garg revealed her personal favourite is the Swipe Right, because it’s so engaging.

She said the most satisfying part of her job is “the impact we have made. Even walking outside or going to restaurants with Tinder swag on is such a conversation starter, people will stop you to talk about their experience.

“People recognize Tinder as a brand and know about it even if they are not using it.”

The three words she used to describe Tinder’s culture were “creative, fast-paced and celebratory.”

Bumble has its own video series which highlights some of the people who are helping run the company behind the scenes. The first episode of ‘Morning Commute’ featured Bumble’s Director of Strategy Priti Joshi.
