Bumble has partnered with HBO to host two unique cinema experiences in New York later this month.

The dating app will convert a townhouse into a movie theatre with five individual screens on August 15th and 16th.

Users of Bumble Date and Bumble BFF will receive an in-app invitation, with a link to register for tickets. They can then choose between taking a friend, or someone they’ve been talking to on the app, as a plus one.

A few of the films being screened include ItWonder WomanGirls TripBack to the Future and Devil Wears Prada.

Bumble’s Director of Partnerships, Andee Olson, said to Campaign: “Partnering with HBO is both very exciting and very natural for Bumble considering the convening power of film to connect people.

“We also love any opportunity to create engaging and safe places for our users to connect offline and ‘Stay Home to the Movies’ reinforces that mission in a very unique and fun way.”

David Horowitz, Executive Creative Director at Mekanism, an advertising agency that is helping to host the event, added in Campaign: “You may not want to always admit it, but it can be all-around more enjoyable to stay home than brave the bars, trains, etc. required of a night out.

“By putting HBO and Bumble together, we give people the chance to have the best kind of going out together experience – one that feels like the best version of staying in.”

Bumble is also running a competition for female filmmakers. The winner will be granted $20,000 to help them create their short film.
